The Climate Resilient Kelowna Strategy (CRKS) was endorsed by City Council in September 2024. It outlines actions to put us on a path to reduce community greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40% below 2007 levels by 2030 (and net zero emissions by 2050), while helping us become more resilient to climate change impacts. The low-emission resilience approach is focused on integrating and coordinating actions that both reduce GHG emissions (mitigation) and adapt to the changes anticipated in the coming decades (adaptation).

The Climate Resilient Kelowna Strategy is the City of Kelowna's new community climate action plan that takes a low-emission resilience approach to climate change.

Main components of the Climate Resilient Kelowna Strategy
Based on technical analysis, research, and community engagement, the strategy includes 10 key drivers where action is needed to make the biggest impact on climate in our community. The drivers are broken into 28 strategies, and further into actions the City can take to help create a low carbon resilient community.
