Description
Kelowna is served by four main water providers, with the City of Kelowna serving the largest portion of the population. Other providers include Black Mountain Irrigation District (BMID), Rutland Waterworks District (RWD), and the Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District (GEID), though the City is currently in the process of taking over GEID operations. Having separate water purveyors can be challenging when a unified response is needed to certain events, such as drought conditions or fire suppression. Proper planning through a commmunity water delivery assessment can help ensure water supply meets demand during climate events.
