Description
For local streets, the City currently collects a deposit from developers for future improvements in front of their properties. However, it can take a long time to collect enough money to update an entire street, even on blocks with significant redevelopment. Updating local streets with sidewalks, boulevards, and trees one property at a time as they are redeveloped is ineffective and often leaves gaps. The Transportation Master Plan (TMP) recommends creating a new Local Street Urbanization Program to pool contributions from development, local residents and the City to build complete local urban streets, including sidewalks, more quickly.
