Description
As EV uptake grows, EV charging infrastructure in non-residential buildings could provide additional charging opportunities at a diversity of locations throughout Kelowna. Similar to residential properties, there may be opportunities to update the Zoning Bylaw to require a certain percentage of parking stalls in new institutional, commercial, and industrial developments to include an energized outlet capable of minimum Level 2 charging.
Staff from the Climate Action & Environmental Stewardship Department are part of provincial engagement looking at potential province-wide 'EV Readiness' requirements. While residential requirements are the focus, the ICI sector is still being considered.
