In 2022, Kelowna City Council endorsed using new GHG emissions reduction targets for the Climate Resilient Kelowna Strategy that align with the provincial targets (i.e., 40% below 2007 by 2030 and net-zero by 2050). However, to become the official targets, the Official Community Plan needs to be updated.

Following adoption of the CRKS by Council in September 2024, the 2040 OCP was updated with the new GHG emissions reduction targets.
