N1.5Develop staff training programs and operational policies to support natural areas management and expand coverage by native vegetation species in parks.

To encourage residents to do the same, the City must demonstrate leadership in protecting and restoring habitat. Changes to the way parks are maintained requires training support for staff and a public education campaing to raise awareness of the value of pollinator meadows and similar natural habitats.

Training for staff and maintenance contractors is planned for 2025-2026. No-mow areas are being trialed on several City-owned properties along with plans to seed native grass/flower species.
