N2.2Investigate policy, incentives, financing and/or programming to encourage landscaping best practices for yard smart features (e.g., heat resistant, FireSmart, Water Smart, etc.).

Private lands include over 78% of the City's urban forest, necessitating efforts by all residents to take care of open spaces for the health and resilience of our community.

This action will work in coordination with action CL4.4 - "Offer and/or deliver educational programs to support climate action at the household level (e.g., home retrofits, FireSmart, climate resilient landscaping, low-emission transportation options, etc.)."

The City will continue to invest in its various education programs - WaterSmart, FireSmart - and build a comprehensive umbrella program to support this work, ClimateSmart.
